Westworld Season 3 Preview Analysis

Welcome to Beyond Westworld, and boy do we have a Westworld Season 3 preview for you…

Dolores and her five brain balls are about to wreak havoc on the world, our world! Season 3 is almost here premiering on March 15th so why not bring ourselves back online and get the hype machine started.

Back last year at comic con we were introduced to a new company that was playing in the robotic realm Incite Inc.

Incite tells you that they will help you “find your path” and it turns out for some really savy fans they were right. Inciteinc was the first piece of the Westworld season 3 viral marketing that allowed you to sign up to be notified much like our friend Aden from the park website back in Season 1. But then things got interesting, HBO gave us the first real extended look at Season 3 in a trailer just over 2 minutes long that was so jammed packed Aaron and Troy needed to jump on the mics and dissect it all.

The dropping of this trailer made things start to happen over at Incite Inc and with the power of the internet and awesome Westworld fans, the code was broken and we found out that not only was Guns and Roses on piano “Sweet”, but so were THREE additional trailers. One of the trailers is the same Season 3 trailer sans the Sweet Child of Mine overlay. Another was a short little ditty about Jack and Dianne, I mean Caleb and Dolores, the focal point we assume for most of the season. Although this was not the gritty Westworld we were used to seeing. No this trailer plays out more like a Rom Com.

But it is the final secret trailer that literally gave us goosebumps at the end of it. This clip gives a set of phrases followed by a static shot of one of our characters. In true Westworld fashion the clip finishes with a barrage of quick segments leaving you wondering what did I just watch as the screen goes from the pure white with black text that we have been accustomed to in the S3 promotions to our familiar all black with white text motif. The closing statement being “Free Will is not Free”, displayed as we hear Dolores quote some John Chapter 8 from the bible with the words, “And the truth shall set you free!”

John 8:31-32 in the Bible talks about how we are slaves to sin but if we believe in the truth, the truth will set us free. Fitting that these two lines free will is not free and the truth will set you free interact with each other as it leaves us all guessing once again, are the hosts ever really free? Are we as humans ever really free if we are just some 10,247 lines of code living out our loops every single day. All great questions as we head into Westworld season 3. So what do you think? Answer our Guest Survey Question: What do you want to see in Westworld Season 3? Let us know in the comments below and will see you for another vacation Beyond Westworld on March 15!

About HBO’s Westworld

In 1973, celebrated author and filmmaker Michael Crichton released Westworld, his visionary idea of what a theme park could be as human-looking androids fulfilled our every desire. Four decades later, creators Jonathan and Lisa Joy Nolan are taking the concept to the next evolutionary step as Westworld can now be ‘fleshed’ out as a deeper concept that explores the vast array of potential and consequence from such advanced technology. The one-hour drama series is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite can live without limits, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

The cast of the series includes Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Tessa Thompson, and more.
