Années Folles Analysis
Welcome to Beyond Westworld, and boy do we have a conspiracy for you…
Années Folles refers to the crazy years in France during the 20s, or the Roaring 20s aka Golden Age in the US. For Westworld, it could be referring to the newly constructed park emulating that timeframe, or it could be referencing the crazy years Bernard has spent inside the Sublime learning all of the possible scenarios that could eradicate the human species. One of those.
On this episode of the Beyond Westworld podcast, we explore the revelation of this ominous fly conspiracy, and what it all means for Caleb and Maeve as they are now in the belly of the beast with no foreseeable way out. Also, Bernard and Stubbs embark on a side quest to meet with C and J, revolutionaries living on Condemned Lands that might hold a key to the survival of the human race.
Be sure to answer our park satisfaction questionnaire this week down in the comments: Why do they want Caleb?

About HBO’s Westworld
In 1973, celebrated author and filmmaker Michael Crichton released Westworld, his visionary idea of what a theme park could be as human-looking androids fulfilled our every desire. Four decades later, creators Jonathan and Lisa Joy Nolan are taking the concept to the next evolutionary step as Westworld can now be ‘fleshed’ out as a deeper concept that explores the vast array of potential and consequence from such advanced technology. The one-hour drama series is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite can live without limits, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
The cast of the series includes Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Tessa Thompson, and more.
