Weird Casting Choices, Midnight Mass, Marvel Sues Its Creators

On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, we’re discussing some of the weird casting choices to come out of Hollywood – the good and the bad – like a 30 year old playing teenager Evan Hansen, Tom Cruise playing the 6′ 5″ Jack Reacher, Gary Oldman playing a dwarf in Tiptoes, or Miles Teller playing pretty much anyone. Weird is a relative term, and we debate these odd choices, for better and worse.

Also this week: we dissect the daunting lawsuit from Marvel to its creators as a means of retaining the rights to Avengers characters from copyright termination, discussion on Netflix’s TUDUM event, movie & tv news, upcoming releases including Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Black as Night, and spoiler-free reviews of Coming Home in the Dark, Witch Hunt, and Mike Flanagan’s new Netflix series Midnight Mass, and Troy posits a “What Would’ve Happened” scenario for the group.
