April 2004. A young woman has been called into her bosses office at a small, Kentucky McDonald’s at the behest of a police officer’s phone call who demands compliance. What follows is a tragedy of astonishing proportions, and crimes that included unlawful imprisonment, sexual deviancy, and sexual assault.
In 2012, writer and director Craig Zobel crafted an independent film called Compliance, which swept Sundance and caused many to proclaim its premise was to insane to believe.
Except Compliance, was inspired by a true story.
2012’s Compliance is written and directed by Craig Zobel. What seems like a typical day at a fast-food restaurant quickly escalates into madness when a police officer contacts the location claiming an employee has stolen from a customer, and that is only the beginning of the horror that follows.
