1. Adam Sandler
Has any single actor, ANY OF THEM, played the same exact character more often than Adam Sandler? Think about it. Ever since Billy Madison, Sandler has ridden his brand of Man-Child into the proverbial ground…yet audiences have continued to follow him on this long, exhausting.
Of all the actors considered, Sandler has to be the most in need of a makeover. Even his peers in Hollywood doubt his acting ability at this point. What is worst is that with the exception of Punch-Drunk Love, Sandler has rarely even attempted to venture out and try new things. He seems perfectly content riding this prepubescent character out until he is well into his 50’s.
Look, Adam. We have all laughed at your incessant bodily function jokes, as well as the constant stabs at absurdity you have nailed over the years. But we have seen glimpses, hope, in those childish eyes of yours. Glimpses of an actual actor underneath. Someone who could portray a character of depth and angst, if you would just trust yourself enough to take a chance.
Sandler’s candle is burning dim and his chances of being accepted in a new breed of character are dwindling as his detractors are growing. Hopefully he can take the chance that Matthew did and prove to the world that he has more to offer than bad humor and screaming matches. Audiences are growing restless.
There is our list. SO, what actors do you think should stop coasting and pull a McConaughey?
